Chapter Two - The Farm – Grandma and Alice I

The farm house, out from the house, the front yard, it was the recreation areas most of the time. It was the open air breakfast hall whenever nice weather prevailed and fests of special occasion.  Down the slope from the front yard, it was the flowers nursery and decorated garden, there were car parking space and a natural with artistic touched up beautiful lake with fountain in the middle.  The water was flowing out from the fountain, it was not having any technical equipment, it was a natural spring from underground, it was not a hot spring but the water was icy cold. There were times, the water pressure was high and the water was shot up few meter high and sprinkled down.  There was time water flowed out just from the opening without any splashing.

Alice was squatting down from the lake exit, the water from the lake exit joining the stream and leading to else ways to other farmlands.  Grandma walked towards Alice position and asked “What are you doing?” Alice turned and faced Grandma “Grandma, your pendent does have some magical power, I was hearing noises and unclear messages before but now I am able to hear some clear massage.  It is not in the form of words.  It is rather a communication by senses or images. It really surprised me that it could be in such a clear message by ways of senses and images” Grandma “What did you picked up?”

The stream from their fountain and the water was flowing towards water holding pond with many other streams joined and then flow down as waterfall.  The waterfall splashed downwards to a bigger lake, surrounding these areas, there were limestone’s hills, lots of bamboo, bushes, big trees, giant furs attached to old tall trees trunks.  It was not a farmland but untouched natural forests own by the government. It was a few hundreds meter away from the farmhouse of Mark family.

Alice “It looks like the ants are home moving and it is not one species of ant, they are all species, black ants, red ants, white ants and many more” Grandma “Where are they?  I can’t see anything it is not even one of them” Alice pointed to the bushes along the sideway of the streams but Grandma still indicated that she was unable to see.  Alice adjusted and shifting her squatting position, leaving a gaping space between her and the bushes, it was a space of better position.  She then, signaling for Grandma to squat down, Grandma acted accordingly.

Grandma asked “Alice, are they communicating with you?” Alice “No, Grandma they are just moving forward to someplace else and so far I have detected nothing except they are home moving” Alice raised her arm and pointing again, she said “Grandma, you see, most of those ants, they are marching towards downstream except they are some, going along the opposite side” Grandma had a closer look and she said “Yes they are, why?” Alice “They are passing senses of destination guiding and it seems that they are guards or army squads or something” Alice stop abruptly and Grandma asked “What’s wrong Alice” Alice “Something is very wrong, it seems that there are on and off, some of the ants especially those guards ants, transmitting fears, fears of cleansing the whole species but unclear of what species”

Grandma “Alice, why don’t you try to communicate with them” Alice “How, Grandma I don’t know the way.  I did try it but it was not working. I also held the magical pendent and gently rubbed it, it was not working either” Grandma “Try to concentrate things that you wanted to say and hold on to the pendent” Alice “I did that also, not working”

Grandma had nothing to say and Alice tried again for the focusing and concentration.  Moments were passed, Grandma spoken “Alice let it goes; the power will be with you if you are the chosen one, among our side of the family, it happened before” Alice “The chosen one?” Grandma “Yes it is a saying passing from our side of the family, it is from one generation to another generation, someone will inherited the great magical power” Alice ”I could be the one?” Grandma “Yes, it is already more than three generations, no one was inherited, I believe it is time for you to be the said chosen one” Was it someone of our ancestors had such a power?”  Grandma “Yes it was, a very famous and powerful one” Alice suddenly said “Grandma! You teased me, you are making story to fool me!” Grandma was caught in surprised “What do you mean by teasing you?”  Alice “If I am the chosen one, why I needed the pendent to get clearer message!” Grandma further caught in surprised and tongue tied, she realized that she had said something at the wrong time and wrong mood “Well, you will know when the time has come”

Alice “Grandma I have pick up some new message” She stood up and guiding, Grandma following.  They walked slowing along the stream side way, Alice stopped at a place where there were lime stones with flatted tops beside the bank of the stream.  She sat down and so Grandma did the same. Grandma asked “What message was you pick up?” Alice pointing and showing Grandma “The message was asking me to come over here and you see. There were beetles lined up along the bank wall of the stream and crawling towards the direction of those ants was going.”  Alice enlighten and pointing again “.  There are not only beetles; there are many more other small insects and some other species I have never seen before!” Grandma looked at the direction Alice was pointing “What happen! Alice, have you picked any other message, a clue or something!”

Alice “Yes Grandma I have pick up another new message, this time, it is very clear” Grandma eagerly wanted to know “What’s that?” Alice answered “Grandma, Yes, it is a clue and we have to go home, it is a clue of going to rain!” Grandma said nothing“…….…….” They stepped into their house and heavy rain was pouring.

Chapter Two - The Farm - Morning (2)

Alice” So nothing happened, I mean no one got hurt and property were saved”  Grandma “No one got hurt except the whole block of shop houses were gone” Alice “All gone? Shops and shop contents, all… every thing?”  Grandma “Yes everything, we did manage to save some important documents” Alice quipped “why couldn’t they tried to believe? Alice asked again “Grandma, you did say couple of times, what was the other time” Grandma “It was other times and mostly involved your Grandpa”  Alice “Good, it must be a touching love story between Grandma and Grandpa” Alice was very excited and eagerly wanted to hear more of her grandparents love story but got no avail.  Grandma “Alice, it is nothing to do with the pendent I gave it to you and you need to know only something with the pendent story, nothing else”

Alice used her fingers to slightly rubbed her newly wore pendent “Yes…yes, sorry, Grandma the overseas holiday trip and why it was associated the pendent.  Oh…um one more thing Grandma, promise me, you will tell me the love stories with grandpa some other day Huh?”  Grandma did not answer her and she said “I couldn’t influence your grandpa to cancel the trip and I was very worried and tensed until I lost my direction of what to do” She paused and Alice was noticing grandma, she was a bit tired and she was able to sense grandma was mostly likely felt thirsty. She stood up and said “grandma, stop for a while, I am going to the kitchen to get some drinks for you” Grandma smiled, felt content and kept quiet, indicating Alice was a good granddaughter and she was happy to be her grandchild..

Grandma “Since I couldn’t do anything, furthermore there was no clear indications or dreams of certainty, I just took it easy and went along with the holiday trip” Alice “Grandma, it must be horrible! Knowing the unknown and it is not a good omen!” Grandma “It shed a light of relieved when we were at the airport” Alice “Something going to happen in the airport?”  Grandma “No, I was worried and tensed, sitting on the chair in the waiting hall, your Grandpa thought I was chilled because of the air-con, he went away to get some hot drinks for me.”  She continued before Alice started to ask question “Someone passed by and sat beside me” Alice asked “Boy?” Grandma “His presence gave me a kind of relieve, I just don’t know and don’t understand, the feels were so warm, sweet and comfort in such a way that the worse is over” Grandma “He looked at me, smile and hand over the pendent to me, the one I just gave it to you, and then  he walked away”

Alice was needed to assist mother in the kitchen for lunch preparation and Grandma took the opportunity to have a nap in her room.  Alice “Mum, do you have the capability of able to see the future like Grandma, or did Grandma tell you about her experience?” Mother was searching some spice containers “Your first question, yes and no, your second question yes” Alice “Mum please more details” Alice was washing some of their own grown vegetables “Mum please, the stories yes and no” Mother “I did have a dream and the feeling of being lucky and might be able to have a windfall when I conceived you.  So I bought a lottery and I STRIKE it!” Alice opened her month “Hah…you did” Mother “Yes I did but I only got a consolidation prize, a few hundred dollars only!”  She continued “Your Dad said it was only your baby lady luck and warned me not to gamble again”

Grandma and Alice, they were together again in Grandma’s room.  Alice “Please Grandma, your unfinished story” Grandma asked back “Where were I?” Alice “How could the man gave you something ….and it must be quite expensive and walked away without a word?” Grandma “It is weird and at first I just couldn’t get what it meant, but then some phenomenon feels indicating, there is a unseen power of the pendent” Grandma continued “When I hold it, I could feel, it has a life, it wanted to show me by way of images or mind to mind commutations” Alice “You mean it has its mind of its own?” Grandma “I really don’t know? Any way I did feel safe the moment I possessed it” Alice “So nothing happen, you and Grandpa had a nice honey moon and sound and safe back home, end of story”

Grandma “Not quite, it was just before we were going to board our plan. The airport authority paged us to go to the office” and she quoted the airport officer told them “Sorry Mrs. and Mr. There is a mixed up, the plane you are supposed to board in, it was full house. Please accept our apology, we will arrange a hotel room for both of you and your flight will be tomorrow morning at 9.00am” Grandma “Your Grandpa was very angry and loudly argued with the officer, your Grandpa indicated we were having all checked up and boarding pass were issued and seats were allocated, it was impossible a mixed” Grandma said that he officer explained “The plane was schedule to fly but having technical glitches and they have to replace a smaller capacity plane” Alice “So OK, just enjoyed one day free hotel room and foods” Grandma “Not quite, hours later in our hotel room, news reported, the plane we were supposed to board in was down, no survivors”
